Suzie Althens was born in Oregon and moved to Alaska in 1979 when she married her husband, Lee.  She lives in the small community of Glacier View, Alaska, where she produces beautiful creations in watercolor, pastel, liquid acrylic and mosaic.  Her artwork has been collected throughout the state of Alaska, including a prestigious mosaic for the 1% for the Arts Program in the public schools.  Her education is a mixture of workshops, mentoring, and extensive reading.  She doesn’t consider herself to be self-taught, due to the people who have encouraged and influenced her throughout her career.
